Kelly Ka Lai Wong Kelly Ka Lai Wong began working as a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service in 2009, later becoming a Ruby Mountain Hot Shot before going through the academy for the Los Angeles Fire Department in 2015. Kelly graduated from the academy earning the award of “Top Academic Recruit” for finishing as the top academic performer in his class. He was a two-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department assigned to Fire Station 92 in Rancho Park. Kelly was scheduled to transfer to Fire Station 9 serving Downtown Los Angeles, and was working at that station when he passed away in the line of duty. Kelly was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for travel and aviation, whose work ethic showed in both his studies and his work as a firefighter. Kelly is survived by his wife, Danielle.
