Apparatus Operator William "Bill" Wigmore lost his battle with occupational cancer April 21, 2004. Bill Wigmore, known affectionately as "Wiggy" to his friends and colleagues, dedicated 27 years to the Berkeley Fire Department and previously, 5 years to the Alto-Richardson Fire Department in Marin County. As one of the founding members of Berkeley's Hazardous Materials Response Unit, Brother Wigmore was also a member of the Berkeley Fire Fighters Association, Local 1227, California Professional Firefighters, and International Association of Fire Fighters
