Sara Felix Thomas began her career with the fire service in 2000 as a seasonal firefighter for the CAL FIRE Monte Vista unit, where she served until 2002 when she transferred to the San Benito-Monterey unit. Sara worked for the San Benito-Monterey and Riverside units simultaneously before accepting a permanent firefighter position with the Riverside unit. Sara spent the majority of her career serving the citizens of the Coachella Valley and was last assigned to fire station 80 in North Indio. In January 2017, Sara succumbed to the effects of job-related cancer. She is survived by her husband, Isaac, and their two daughters, Olivia and Mirna.
