James L. Stiglich started his firefighting career with the U.S. Forest Service in 1987. Five years later he joined the LA Fire Department. James received numerous accolades during his 26-year career, notably including “Firefighter of the Year” in Battalion 5 and Battalion 17, as well as LA City’s highest recognition for his Search and Rescue efforts during the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. When James was not working, he enjoyed fishing, camping, repairing fire lookouts with the Buck Rock Association, and going on road trips with his brothers.
