Dominic James Smith was born in Lansing, MI but lived most of his life in San Diego. He was dedicated to serving and caring for others, spending seven years with the Oceanside Fire Department, and 22 years with the Santa Monica Fire Department. Dom put his heart and soul into the department with an unwavering passion for SMFD history. He led the charge to acquire and restore their Mack Fire Engine. In 2007, he was SMFD’s Firefighter of the Year. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He enjoyed surfing, his SD Padres, and restoring Land Cruisers. Dom touched everyone he met with his humor, kindness, and compassion.
