David Robert Rosa David Robert Rosa’s passion for serving others is what led him to join the Los Angeles County Fire Explorers program when he was only sixteen years old. Before becoming a full-time firefighter with the Long Beach Fire Department in 2001, David served others as an ocean guard, lifeguard instructor and a paramedic. During his 17-year career, he embodied the characteristics of leadership and selflessness. He promoted through the ranks to fire captain and was dedicated to his role as a training captain, impacting the lives and careers of countless new firefighters. David was shot in the line of duty while responding to a structure fire. He is survived by his wife, Lynley, his two sons, Alec and Samuel, his parents, Paul and Jean, and his sister Julia.
