Ralph S. Osler

Department: Ventura County

Deceased: September 16, 2002

Ralph S. Osler Born in 1948 on Valentine's Day, Ralph Stewart Osler lived a life pursuing his passions, flying, public service, and family. Whether it was his work as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief in the National Guard or flying as a private pilot, Ralph immersed himself in the art of aviation. In 1977, Ralph’s zeal for public service shifted when he joined the Ventura County Fire Department. A second-generation fireman, Ralph rose through the ranks to an Engineer. Developing many lifelong friends with his warm nature and humor, those who worked closest with him affectionately remember him as “Housler.” To his family, he is remembered as a devoted husband and a loving father.Ralph brought joy and happiness to those in his life. Unfortunately his time was cut short as he suffered from the leading cause of firefighter fatalities, heart disease. While Ralph is no longer with us, his memory lives on.
