Rueben J. Murrieta began his lifelong love and service for the fire department in 1972 with the LAFD hand crew at Malibu.  Throughout his career Rueben was committed to his work and was recognized as the Ventura County Firefighter of the Year in 2000.  In his spare time, he was actively involved with sport activities, coaching, and mentoring youth. He was an avid LA sports fan, coach, golfer and loved to travel the world with his family.  He passed away from a job-related injury in October 2018.
