Terry Wayne Jacobs Aerial firefighters and ground crews alike mourn the loss of Terry Jacobs, who lost his life while battling the Titus Fire in the Happy Camp Fire complex in Siskiyou County, California. Known as "Jake" to his friends and co-workers, he dedicated his life to a career in aviation, most recently flying the S-64 Sky Crane as a command pilot. Although initially fixed-wing aircraft sparked his interest, he soon transitioned to rotor-wing and flew two tours in Viet Nam doing Combat Assault and was a Battalion Operations Officer. He always found time to help others in many ways, and entertained so many people with his humor and story telling.
