In 1953 Dave was hired by the National City Fire Department. David was a bit of an entertainer. He practiced and perfected his card tricks and his sleight of hand, much to the delight of his fellow firefighters. Dave saw many changes during his tenure in the fire service. He had a son with the same name that recently succumbed to cancer in 2012. Captain Jacobs was taken early after retirement with job-related heart disease.
