Throughout his life, Captain Matt C. Burton shared his generous heart with his family, his friends and the community he called home. Though born in Maryland, Matt lived 31 years in Concord, graduating from Mt. Diablo High School. In 1997, he started his ten-year career with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, becoming a Captain just this past February. Matt's family was his passion, whether it was playing soccer with Megan or football with Josh. His other passion was wakeboarding. Matt Burton and Scott Desmond died July 21st in a fatal house fire in San Pablo that also claimed the lives of its residents.
