Steven Thomas Brosig spent more than 25 years bravely serving the Aptos-La Selva Fire Protection District. Over the course of his career, his colleagues would note that his calm, quiet confidence made him a both compassionate and courageous firefighter and paramedic. In 2015, Steve was honored as the district’s firefighter of the year. Outside of firefighting, he had a great love for the remote desert environment, solitude and his family. Steven is survived by his wife, Tracy, his daughter, Maya, sisters, Cynthia and Valerie, and his mother, Marcella. He died in 2015 after a battle with job related cancer at the age of 57.
