Did You Know?

When disaster strikes, many survivors are left with nothing but the clothes on their backs, facing unimaginable challenges. The California Fire Foundation’s Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program is here to help.

In the past few weeks, the California Fire Foundation team has been in Southern California distributing SAVE cards to families affected by the recent fires. These $250 gift cards cover essential needs like food, clothing, gas, medicine, or temporary shelter. Over 7,200 cards have been distributed, supporting nearly 23,000 individuals. We are proud to be part of an organization making a real difference in the lives of those in need.

Additionally, the SAVE program partners with fire departments across California who, throughout the year, can offer a SAVE card in the aftermath of a house fire, easing some of the burden during one of the toughest times in their lives.

Together, we’re showing the power of compassion when it’s needed most.

Honoring Our Fallen: 2024 California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony

On October 12, 2024, firefighters, families, and supporters came together at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento to honor the bravery and sacrifice of 36 firefighters whose names were added to the California Firefighters Memorial.

The moving ceremony featured touching traditions, including the tolling of the bell for each name and the presentation of folded flags to surviving families. Many of this year’s honorees lost their lives to job-related illnesses, such as cancer and cardiac conditions, amongst other risks firefighters face while in the line of duty.

Following the ceremony, attendees joined a solemn procession to Capitol Park to view the updated Memorial site. Enhancements include an expanded memorial wall to honor future generations of firefighters and a newly positioned Fallen Brother statue, creating a serene space for reflection and remembrance.

“This Memorial stands as a tribute to their selfless dedication and a commitment to ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten.” - California Fire Foundation Chair Brian K. Rice
