LODD: Modesto Fire Captain Greg Ewert
The City of Modesto Fire Department and Modesto Firefighters, Local 1289 are saddened to announce the passing of one of their own in the line of duty.
Captain Greg Ewert passed away on September 23, 2018, following an eight year battle with job-related cancer.
Brother Ewert retired in 2010 after a 31-year career in the fire service, mostly as captain on Truck Company 5. Ewert was instrumental in organizing the Modesto Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team and was a Rescue Systems Instructor at the Modesto Junior College Fire Academy.
Brother Ewert was a valued member of the City of Modesto Fire Department and served his community with honor and distinction. He is survived by his wife Sherree, son Brett Ciccarelli, daughters Haley Ewert and Breana Ewert-Kramer, and two grandchildren Grayson and Ellison.

Celebration of life services for Brother Ewert Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at The House Modesto in Modesto (1601 Coffee Rd, Modesto, CA 95355).
Attire is Class A uniform. Uniformed personnel are asked to meet at the front of the worship center no later than 9:15 A.M. the morning of the service to be seated.
Reception immediately follows at Stanislaus Veterans Center in Modesto (3500 Coffee Rd, Modesto, CA 95355).
