LODD: Los Angeles City Fire Captain David Moorman

and the Los Angeles Fire Department is saddened to announce the passing of one of their own in the line of duty.

Fire Captain David Moorman succumbed to a job-related illness on February 5, 2017. He was 50 years old.

Brother Moorman began his 28-year career with the Los Angeles Fire Department on October 11, 1989, eventually rising to the rank of captain while receiving numerous awards and certifications along the way. Brother Moorman was a member of the department’s urban search and rescue team and California’s “Task Force 1,” having responded to the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina and a variety of FEMA deployments.

In his personal life, Brother Moorman was a lover of the outdoors and an avid sports fan. He will be remembered for his competitive and good-spirited nature, his famous river trips and his love for his family. He leaves behind his wife, Amy, and their children Elizabeth and Richard.

Memorial Services

Memorial services for Brother Moorman will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Calvary Community Church in Westlake, Calif. Location and times are included below.
