LODD Announcement: Rancho Adobe Fire Department Captain Kyle Heard

It is with heavy hearts that the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District and the Professional Fire Fighters of Sonoma County IAFF Local 1401 share the news of the passing of one of their own.

Captain Kyle Joseph Heard passed away on August 16, 2024, at the age of 43, following a medical emergency. Kyle was a dedicated fire service member with 21 years at the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District, where he rose to the rank of Captain. His commitment to public service and his union brothers and sisters earned him deep respect among his colleagues and the community.

Outside of his professional life, Kyle was a devoted husband to Rachael and a proud father to Logan and Parker. His family was his world, and he devoted himself to ensuring their happiness and well-being.

Kyle's life was a testament to service, love, and duty. As a 21-year veteran of the Rancho Adobe Fire District, he served with unwavering perseverance and was always ready to respond. His contributions extended beyond emergency responses, as he played a crucial role in training new firefighters and maintaining the Fire District’s equipment to ensure the safety of his fellow firefighters. Kyle’s bravery and expertise were evident as he and his team tackled some of California’s largest wildfires.
