LODD Announcement: Los Angeles County Fire Fighter Andrew Pontious

It is with a heavy heart that the Los Angeles County Firefighters, IAFF Local 1014, and the Los Angeles County Fire Department announce the passing of our beloved brother, Fire Fighter Andrew Pontious.

Fire Fighter Andrew Pontious of Fire Station 93, Battalion 17, North Regional Operations Bureau, was killed in the line of duty on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the age of 52. Fire Fighter Pontious sustained fatal injuries while engaged in firefighting operations at a large vehicle fire in Palmdale. Fire Fighter Pontious faithfully served our Department, residents, and communities for 19 years, and is survived by his wife and stepdaughter, parents and brother.

Uniform:

The uniform of choice is the Department-approved Class A uniform and the Rank and File Class A uniform with soft cap. Personnel who do not have a dress uniform shall wear the long sleeve work uniform with tie and soft cap. A horizontal black band shall be worn across the badge. Uniform personnel attending the memorial service are requested to arrive one hour prior to allow for staging.

All battalions that are showing support with flowers for the Pontious memorial and flag ceremony shall have all deliveries arrive at either Fire Station 93 or Cottonwood Church by 0800 hours on the day of the ceremonies.

The Department’s Chaplains, Peer Support, and Behavioral Health services remain available to all Department personnel.
