LODD Announcement: Kings County Fire Department Captain Mark Eads

The Kings County Fire Department and Kings County Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 3747, sadly share news of the passing of one of their own.

Fire Captain Mark Eads, 62, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, while on the scene of an emergency call in the City of Avenal. Captain Eads suffered a medical emergency and was transported to Coalinga hospital where he passed away.

Captain Eads started his journey with Kings County in 2003 as a Fire Apparatus Engineer and was promoted to Fire Captain in 2021. He served his community with passion and commitment for over 20 years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. Kings County is grateful for the years of service and dedication that Captain Eads provided to the department and community.

Call for Honor Guard and Apparatus.
The California Fire Foundation's Last Alarm Service Team (Cal LAST) has been mobilized to assist with the service and is coordinating the honor guards.
All departmental and local union honor guards, as well as any agencies who are able to send apparatus, are encouraged to participate.

1:00pm to 4:00pm – Honor Guard Practice

Tuesday, February 18, 2025
7:00am – Honor Guard Arrives
8:00am - Apparatus Arrives (apparatus parking will occur on the east side of the church)
9:00am – All uniformed personnel to arrive no later than 9:00am

Honor Guard personnel are asked to bring Class A dress uniforms, as well as any available flags, poles, harnesses, tolls and pike poles.
