LODD: Alameda Fire Department Firefighter (retired) Patrick Michael Corder

It is with great sadness that the Alameda City Fire Department and Alameda Firefighters Association IAFF Local 689 share news of the passing of one of their own.

Firefighter Patrick Michael Corder, 43, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. His passing followed a difficult battle with Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI). Firefighter Corder proudly served the citizens of Alameda with honor and distinction for 15 years, retiring in 2023.

Patrick loved the fire service and was a staunch advocate for the mental health of his fellow firefighters, returning to the City of Alameda to educate recruits even after his retirement. He also served the community as a member of one of the first Community Paramedics (CP) in CA and continued serving as a CP for seven years. Patrick was very involved in the union, including serving as local President and Secretary. Patrick was embraced by many community members as a public servant who had an amazing personality that allowed for positive engagement with everyone he encountered.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 10 years, his mother, and his father.

The family is extremely appreciative of the tremendous outpouring of support from the community during this difficult time. If you wish to pay your respects and honor Patrick, please join us at a memorial service on February 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. held at the USS Hornet.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP through the website provided below. This memorial service is open to the public. No public livestream will be available. Media will not be allowed inside the venue.
